KOREDE FOGO
A secondary school pupil and a yet to be identified male passenger were yesterday crushed to death by a passenger bus and articulated vehiclenin Ogun State.
The articulated vehicle reportedly crushed the male passenger travelling on a commercial motorcycle popularly known as Okada to death in Ifo, Ogun State innthe early hours of yesterday.
The second event came as another pupil returning from school was crushed to death while crossing the road by a hit and run driver.
The first incident which occurred at about 12.55pm happened around Lameda bus stop at Ifo along the Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta Expressway.
The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi said the Bajaj motorcycle with number plate AAB 686 VP got motorcycle sandwiched between the truck and another car which made the rider to loose control of the motorcycle and one of the passengers fell in the process.
He said the passenger who fell under the back tyres was killed instantly by the DAF truck with number plate T 691 LA.
Akinbiyi said two other passengers were injured in the accident, and were receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Ifo.
Concerning the Hit and run driver, the driver travelling towards Ibadan was reported to have killed a female pupil of Egba Odeda Secondary School, Odeda, at Beni village Oke Oloshi via Olodo on the Abeokuta-Ibadan highway.
Akinbiyi said the late pupil was on her way home after the school hours when the sad incident occurred.
Remains of both deceased in the road crashes, according to Akinbiyi have been deposited at morgues of the General Hospital Ifo and General Hospital, Odeda respectively.
While the TRACE commiserates with the family of the deceased, it advised school pupils to be more vigilant and at alert whenever they’re using the road in view of its attendant consequences.
