The President of the Owu Youth Forum (OYF), Comrade Olawale Olajumoke, has said that the just-concluded 2025 Owu Day celebration has once again reflected the unity, cultural pride, and communal strength of the Owu people.
Speaking to BUSINESSINSIDERNG after the week-long cultural event — formally known as the Odun Omo Olowu Festival — Olajumoke said the festival continues to be a beacon of Owu identity and togetherness.
This year’s edition, themed “Awakening the Spirit of Our Ancestors: The Journey Home is the Journey Forward,” drew participation from indigenes and dignitaries across Nigeria and the diaspora.
In a statement signed by OYF’s Public Relations Officer I, Idayat Bankole, the youth leader commended the success of the celebration, describing it as “a shining testament to Owu’s collective commitment to heritage, elegance, peace, and purpose.”
“From the opening day to the grand finale, the Owu spirit of excellence was evident in every performance, every gathering, and every heart that beat in celebration of our shared ancestry,” Olajumoke said.
He expressed the Forum’s appreciation to the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, HRM Oba Saka Matemilola, Oluyalo Otileta VII, for his visionary leadership, which he said has strengthened unity and cultural pride among Owu descendants.
Olajumoke also paid tribute to the Balogun of Owu Kingdom, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, noting that despite marking the 20th remembrance anniversary of his late wife, Mrs Stella Obasanjo, the former president still found time to participate in the festival — “a gesture that reflects deep pride and loyalty to his heritage.”
He further congratulated Senator Ibikunle Amosun and other illustrious sons and daughters of Owu Kingdom for their steadfast commitment to the growth and cultural legacy of the people.
“Our heartfelt commendation also goes to the festival committees, donors, volunteers, and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make Odun Omo Olowu 2025 a resounding success. Your devotion and sacrifice will continue to inspire generations to come,” he added.
Reiterating the OYF’s dedication to promoting unity and cultural advancement, Olajumoke said the festival’s enduring message is clear: “As the drums fade and the banners flutter, the ideals of unity, progress, and pride in our heritage must remain our guiding lights,” she stated.
