An export laden barge have called at the West African Container Terminal (WACT), Onne Portharcourt.
The barge barge laden with 120 TEUS of Cocoa bound for Antwerp, Belgium via Cotonou was received at Onne Port on Thursday, 10th February, 2022
According to the NPA, the arrival ofbthe export barge is a testament to the efforts of the Mohammed Bello Koko-led Management of the Authority to stimulate activities at the Eastern Ports by providing incentives for shipping lines and consignees to patronize the Ports located in Calabar, Warri, Rivers, and Onne.
Speaking at the just-concluded Stakeholders’ Sensitization on Patronage of the Eastern Ports organized by the Federal Ministry of Transportation which was held in Portharcourt, the Authority’s MD, reiterated the resolve to create the enabling atmosphere to grow vessel traffic in the eastern region.
It will be recalled that the Management of the Authority had developed a Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Barge Operations and backed the respective Port Managers to adapt the SOPs to suit the peculiarities of their terrain.
