The National Assembly has directed terminal operators at the nation’s seaports to ensure collection of Practitioners’ Operating Fee (POF), and remitance to the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN).
This directive was handed down by the Chairman, Joint session of the National Assembly Committee on Land and Marine Transport, Sen. Danjuma Goje, during the 2022 Budget Defence of the Ministry of Transportation by the Minister, Rt. Hon. Chibike  Rotimi Amaechi, at the National Assembly, Abuja.
In a press statement by the transportation ministry’s spokesperson, Eric Ojiekwe, Goje said the prescribed POF will enable CRFFN perform its statutory function.
Goje, in the statement also called on the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi to engage the terminal operators to ensure that the POF is remitted as at when due to CRFFN.
While observing that aside from lawmaking, oversight function was the next most important, the Senator noted that the House is ready to apply sanctions if the POF is not complied with as is the practice in other climes.
