The slain Customs Officer, Onwegbuzie Anthony

The slain officer of the federal operation Unit (FOU), Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Onwegbuzie Anthony, has been buried amid tears and wailings from loved ones
Recall that the acting customs area controller, FOU, Zone A, Hussein Ejibunu, had in a press briefing on Wednesday, said Onwegbuzie, was hacked to death by gunmen suspected to be smugglers on 3rd March, 2022 after which they dumped his body inside a pit
“This new wave of daring attitude of smugglers has claimed the lives of many officers; the latest being the hacking to death with machete of Inspector of Customs Onwegbuzie along Senator Road, Ilaro axis of Ogun State, after making a seizure on Wednesday 2nd March, 2022.
“The officer was not only gruesomely murdered but his body was dumped in a deep pit. Nevertheless, with the timely arrival of other patrol teams, three arrests were made in connection with the murder and 78 bags of smuggled parboiled rice at 50kg each and six motorcycles were equally seized.”
However, BUSINESSINSIDERNG, reliably gathered that Onwegbuzie, a 48 year old assistant inspector of Customs officer was born on, January 16, 1974 from Umuata, Ubulu-Unor kingdom, Aniocha-south local government, Delta state was buried on the 30th of March, 2022 in his hometown.
According to sources, Onwegbuzie’s death was a shock to everyone because he had an aged father he caters for.
The source in a short and tersed message to our correspondent said, “With our deepest sorrow, but total submission to God, We the family of Onwueguzie of Umuordi Quarter, Umuata of Ubulu-Unor Kingdom, Aniocha South, LGA, Delta State, announced the passing away of their beloved husband, father, Uncles and Cousins Assistant Inspector Anthony Onwouegbuzie. Body leaves Lagos Mortuary to his home town. Umuordi Quarter, Umuata in Ubulu-Unor Umuato, Ubulu-Unor Kingdom, Aniocha.”
