A former minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has asked the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, to resign with immediate effect.
Ezekwesili statement is coming hours after the governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, asked him to resign over his decision to contest the 2023 election.
BUSINESSINSIDERNG, reports that the CBN governor, on Friday, picked the presidential nomination form of the All Progressive Congress (APC), putting end to speculations whether the CBN governor will contest or not.
However, Ezekwesili, in a tweet, on her official Twitter page @obyezeks on Saturday, said the CBN should resign to pursue his ambition.
She said, “The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria’s central bank must now immediately tender his resignation to stop further destroying whatever little remains of the country’s monetary policy reputation. Mr Emefele should leave immediately- tonight- to pursue his ill-fated political career.”
